Born in 1993, in the Year of the Rooster, Kim Damin is a South Korean filmmaker and writer whose work explores the strange within the familiar.
Growing up surrounded by comics, she naturally gravitated toward storytelling through film and literature.
She studied Film Directing at the Korean Animation High School and majored in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology at Yonsei University, where she learned to see the world with fresh eyes—finding the unfamiliar in what seems ordinary.
Her stories draw on personal experience and the lives around her, blending realism with imagination and quiet social insight.
Driven by a lasting curiosity for images and words, she continues to expand her practice across different media. While she mainly works in film and television, she hopes to explore documentaries, experimental cinema, and animation as well.

닭띠로 태어나 인천에 살고 있다.
세상에 오직 만화 뿐인 소년기를 보내다가 영화를 만들고 소설을 쓰는 지금이 왔다.
한국애니메이션고등학교에서 영상연출을, 연세대학교에서 심리학과 문화인류학을 전공했다.
인류학을 통해 세상을 낯설게 바라보는 방식을 배웠다.
직접 경험한 일과 주변에서 일어나는 모든 일들이 내 관심사이자 주제다.
언제나 만들고 쓰는 일에 신이 난다.
무대와 매체를 한정하지 않고 작업장을 조금씩 넓혀가고 있다.
영화와 드라마를 주로 만들고 있지만, 소설은 언제나 내 옆에 있고, 다큐와 실험영화, 그리고 애니메이션을 만들고 싶다.
가능하면 오랫동안 작품활동을 하고 싶다.
